Navigating the future of AI with policy, research, and ethics

Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant technology, it is here, reshaping the way governments, industries, and communities operate every day. From public services to resource development, AI’s potential is extraordinary. Yet alongside that potential come complex questions of responsibility, fairness, and trust.

Organizations are being asked not only to innovate but also to ensure their use of AI is safe, ethical, and accountable. This is where my work begins.

My approach

I support organizations navigating the rapidly evolving AI landscape by blending experience in policy, governance, and ethics with practical tools that help leaders make informed decisions. My work is rooted in:

  • Risk awareness – understanding the real world implications of AI adoption.
  • Cultural sensitivity – recognizing diverse perspectives, including Indigenous rights and data sovereignty.
  • Regulatory alignment – preparing organizations for new standards and compliance requirements.
  • Innovative growth – ensuring ethical considerations support, rather than hinder, progress.

I collaborate with governments, public and private organizations and Indigenous communities, to create strategies that embrace AI’s potential and safeguard against its risks.

The AI-RESPECT™ model

To guide this work, I developed the AI-RESPECT™ Compliance Model. While I won’t share the full details here (details forthcoming), its purpose is clear: It is a structured approach that helps organizations evaluate and strengthen their AI practices. The model supports leaders in balancing innovation with accountability, and to build tailored organizational AI strategies that are not only effective but also aligned to business needs.

Why this matters

We are at a turning point. AI adoption is accelerating faster than regulation can catch up. Organizations that act now by embedding ethics, governance, and compliance into their systems, will:

  • Gain a competitive advantage
  • Build stronger trust with clients, communities, and stakeholders
  • Be ready to meet emerging regulatory requirements

Those who wait may find themselves scrambling to retrofit safeguards after the fact, at greater cost and reputational risk.

What’s next

Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing insights into AI governance, regulatory trends, and practical strategies for organizations looking to prepare for an AI-driven future. My aim is to promote a usable AI policy and ethics framework that empowers leaders to lead with tools they can adopt immediately.

If you are an organization exploring AI, concerned about compliance, or interested in adopting AI responsibly, I’d love to connect.

Together, we can ensure AI is not only powerful but principled and aligned with your organization’s needs.
